Install your eSIM

Install at home on Wi-Fi before you travel. Each QR code can be scanned only once. Keep the email — you may need it to identify the line later.

iPhone (iOS 16+)

  1. 1Open Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM (or Cellular → Add Cellular Plan).
  2. 2Choose “Use QR Code” and scan the code from your order email.
  3. 3Label the line (e.g. “Travel”) and choose your default line for calls and iMessage.
  4. 4Set the new eSIM as your Mobile Data line at your destination.
  5. 5Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line — do this only when you arrive.

Android (Pixel, Samsung, etc.)

  1. 1Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM (wording varies by maker).
  2. 2Choose “Download a SIM instead?” or “Scan QR code”, then scan the code from the email.
  3. 3Confirm activation and name the line.
  4. 4Set the new eSIM as the Mobile Data preference at your destination.
  5. 5Enable Data Roaming for the eSIM line on arrival.

Use a strong Wi-Fi connection to install

Mobile data won’t work for the install — your eSIM isn’t active yet.

Keep the QR for your records

If you reset your phone, you may need it again. Save the email.

Not sure your phone supports eSIM? Check compatibility.

QR code issues

  • Email not arrived? Check spam/promotions. Add esimpoint.com to safe senders.
  • “Code already used”? Each code is single-use. Email us with your order number — we can issue a replacement.
  • QR scan won’t work? Use the manual activation code from the same email. Copy/paste the SM-DP+ address and Activation Code in the “Add manually” option.
  • Lost the email? Sign in and view your QR on the order details page in My orders.

No data on arrival

  1. 1. Confirm Data Roaming is ON for the eSIM line.
  2. 2. Set Mobile Data to the eSIM line, not your home SIM.
  3. 3. Toggle Airplane Mode off and on.
  4. 4. Restart the device.
  5. 5. In Settings → Mobile Data → eSIM line, choose “Select a Network” and pick a partner manually.
  6. 6. If APN is blank, set it to the value listed in your order email.

Still no signal after 10 minutes? Email us your order number and a screenshot of the eSIM line settings.

Frequently asked questions

When will I receive my eSIM after purchase?

Your QR code is delivered by email immediately after the payment is confirmed. Most orders deliver within seconds; in rare cases the supplier can take a few minutes. If you do not see the email, check spam, then contact support.

What devices are eSIM compatible?

iPhone XS and later (with iOS 12.1+), most Google Pixel 3 and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 series and later, and recent Apple Watches and iPads. Your device must be carrier-unlocked. See our compatibility checker for the full list.

Do I install the eSIM before or after travel?

Install the eSIM at home before you travel, but only enable data roaming for the eSIM line once you arrive. Installing early avoids weak-signal install issues at the destination.

Can I keep my regular SIM active while using the eSIM?

Yes. Keep your home SIM as the primary line for calls/SMS, and set the eSIM as the data line. You can switch lines per app in iOS settings.

Does the QR code work more than once?

No. The QR code can be scanned only once. If your install fails before completion, contact support and we can issue a replacement code.

Can I use hotspot / personal hotspot?

Most plans support hotspot, but some supplier plans block it. The plan card lists hotspot support before purchase.

Will I get a phone number with the eSIM?

Travel eSIMs are data-only. They do not include a phone number for calls or SMS. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage etc. for messaging.

When does the validity period start?

Validity starts the moment the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you install it. Pre-installing at home does not consume validity.

Can I top up or extend a plan?

Most travel eSIMs are single-use. To extend, buy another plan for the same destination. Top-up support depends on the supplier.

What is your refund policy?

Plans are refundable if the eSIM has not been installed and activated. Once installed, refunds depend on whether data has been consumed. Email support within 14 days of purchase to request a refund.
